Volleyball Club
This is our ninth season for The GCVC and we are excited that we are expanding! We had one (1) team the first year – and had a very successful season! Before the second season – after talking with all the head coaches in grant county, and a few others from surrounding counties, we had 6 competitive teams for our club! Our next couple of seasons were huge hits with even more teams and this year we are looking at expanding even more!
Club Affiliation: AAU
Each athlete will have to register for a 2024 AAU membership, so that we can play in both AAU and JVA tournaments!
($18 Membership – AB Extended)
CLUB CODE FOR 2024 AAU SIGN-UP IS:
Teams this season: (depending on numbers – there may be more than one (1) team in an age group) 10/11’s 11/12’s 13/14’s 15/16’s 17/18’s
Practices:
Each team will have at least two (2) practices a week (possibly 3 depending on the age group and team your daughter plays on) – one of those will always be on Sunday afternoon (when not traveling) – the other days will be determined by gym space. Athletes need to report to practices 15 minutes before the start time so that shoes/braces etc… are on, and we are ready to go at the designated time to start! Practices are generally 1 hr 30 min (some longer depending on age group).
Training:
We are here to TRAIN these athletes! Repetition is the key to getting better. These athletes will get a TON of volleyball reps between the months of Jan-May. These touches on the ball will make their HS teams a lot better come August!
Areas that will be trained throughout the season are:
Passing – first ball contact
Setting – running the offense
Defense – defending the other teams offense
Serving – end line attacking
Attacking – aggressive at the net
Tournaments:
The GCVC will participate in JVA and/or AAU sponsored tournaments during the season. We will try our hardest to keep tournaments away from Prom weekends and Spring Breaks (No Promises on that). Some of these tournaments will be one (1) day tourneys, others will be overnight tourneys. Each athlete’s family is responsible for getting their daughter to the playing site ON TIME for all tournaments!!
TRYOUTS/EVALUATIONS:
We do not “cut” athletes, but rather “place” athletes on a team, however, club volleyball is very competitive, and if we feel an athlete can not handle the level of play of the athletes on the rest of her team, “cutting” may be the only option, there are also rules we have to abide by through the IHSAA. There are to be NO MORE than three (3) athletes on a team from the same schools’ program during off season play. The exception to this rule is a graduating senior who will not return to that program to play another season. (they are exempt in the number of athletes for that program).
Conflicts:
If you participate in a winter or spring sport at you High School, we suggest you continue to do so. We encourage kids to be involved in all aspects of their HS years – however we NEED you to communicate that to us at tryouts so that we can put the appropriate amount of athletes on a team. If we know an athlete will be gone for a couple of tournaments due to a basketball/softball/track or tennis meet/match/game – then we will make sure that team has more members so they are not “short athletes” on tournament dates. As an educator – we do understand school functions take priority over club and we would like the athletes to have the opportunity to do both.
2024 Club Season Fees:
- 10 Red = $625
- 11 Red = $725
- 12 Red = $925
- 13/14 White = $925
- 13 Red = $1225
- 14 Red = $1225
- 15/18 White = $1325
- 15/18 Red = $1525
FEES ARE ALL INCLUSIVE:
All Tournament Fees, Gym rental fees, Custodian fees & Coaches fees (for 1 day tournaments)
**FEES DO NOT include overnight accommodations for coaches (all out of town tournaments with hotel cost, food cost and gas cost, WILL be paid by players on teams going to those tournaments – called “Coaches Fees”)
**FEES DO NOT include teams going to Nationals – Those fees will be talked about at a later date…
Payment Structure:
Tryout Fee – $200 Due the day of tryouts (non-refundable)
There is also a 10% discount if you pay your club fees in full at the beginning of the season. It is nice knowing your fees for the season are paid, and at a discounted rate! Reminder that this too is non-refundable because you are paying for your athletes tournament payments, insurance payments, gym and custodial fees, coaches salaries and equipment replacement up front.
Remainder of payments schedule will be handed out at parent meeting.

**We have had many players pay all their club fees by participating in the fund raisers that are available throughout the club season!!
Recruiting:
It is our goal as a club to get the names of as many of our athletes out to colleges coaches as possible – (if playing at the next level is something that the athlete is interested in!) Kids are seen by college coaches in the off season of their sport – not during the high schools seasons! The college off-season is also the athlete’s off season. High School season is also the college season! Athletes and parents need to understand that.
